“Oh, I really do not like this place! After I passed my G1 (beginner’s driving license), I wanted to book a time to do the driving test and there was a person, she was very unpatient and she was very mad at me… because I didn’t understand her and I wanted her to explain more, but she didn’t understand me… for several times I asked her to explain more, but she acted like she wanted to eat me… with her eyes and with her statement!! And that is why I really don’t like this place.”

· Two research groups participated in the project. When fieldwork was complete, members of both groups met for an afternoon of discussion, food, and laughter.

“This place means for me safety… and feeling free. I feel really good when I see nature. This place, this is where I go when I want to be alone and to hear my ideas… this is the only place that I go.”

“This is my classroom at Fleming College. It’s a good place… a safe place… I feel good in this place. I go every morning, during the week. This day [that I took the picture] there were no classes… but in this place I feel good.”

“It is a nice place here at the park. I use this space quite a bit. I guess it is one of the places that I just feel at home…”

· A series of photography exhibitions took place to communicate research findings to the broader community.

“I like this space [on the bus], it is my time. I sometimes read when I am sitting. I feel safe, comfortable, relaxed… I really like.”

“For me, looking at this makes me feel a little sad... because I am reminded of my country, my family. I am reminded of my mother and how she was then, when I last saw her. Now she is sick… and because I cannot see her I am very sad.”
